Hathor can be traced back to pre-dynastic times. It can be said that other goddesses were based off of her. In different areas, she has been seen playing the parts of the following: sky-goddess, sun-goddess, moon-goddess, goddess of the east, goddess of the west, goddess of moisture, goddess of fertility, goddess of agriculture, and finally, goddess of the underworld. Though, in the overall picture, her main job was being the goddess of motherhood, joy, and love.
She is daughter of Ra (The sun god) and Nut, and sister of Thoth, Shu, and Tefnet. She is mother of Horus, and she married Ra
She is worshiped as a cow, sometimes a cow with stars on her back. She is depicted as a human, with the head of a cow.
